The Accidental Fold explores the hidden beauty of found objects – things dropped or discarded, destined to decay and disappear. I rescued them from their fate and transformed them into works of fragile beauty. The objects that I bring home relate to the ‘passing of time’. For example, a piece of folded paper bearing the shape of the pocket where it had been kept for a long time. It also showed traces of the hand that had wrinkled it up, prior to discarding it. Finally, the folded piece of paper bore the organic stamp of being trampled by footsteps that flattened and creased its surface.
The Accidental Fold is an archive of found objects that have been scanned and exhibited as an installation composed of large-scale prints on fragile conservation paper.
Underneath you can find a small selection from this archive.
